Hulkower's writing style is characterized by vivid descriptions, quirky characters, sharp dialogue, and a keen sense of irony. Broken Records

UPRI [you-pree] – acronym

Definitions:

  1. Universal Patient Records Index: UPRI, a four-letter acronym for an integrated electronic healthcare record system covering all aspects of patient care in hospitals and providers’ offices designed and sold by Pardes Software Solutions

  2. The act of prayer associated with using Pardes’s UPRI system: UPRI, pun for “You Pray” e.g., that you remain unharmed.

In his second novel, Broken Records, scientist author Dr. Isaak Hulkower weaves a tale of four individuals who “entered Pardes” and whose lives are impacted by the premier electronic health record system UPRI or Universal Patient Records Index, the flagship product of Pardes Software Solutions. Three of them are patients: the enigmatic Gertha Powpo, CEO of Pardes; the eminently papable Cardinal Melchior Casseroli; and nail polish tycoon Millicent “Mincie” Pindle, while one is a healthcare provider: world renowned heart surgeon Dr. Humphries “Fuffy” Fensill. Only one of them will emerge unscathed.
